The "Thrive Together Initiative" is part of the fourth phase of the "Viva la Vida" mental health project that is culturally inclusive and designed to empower Hispanic and other immigrant families in the High River community, the Foothills and other rural areas of southern Alberta, with psychoeducational practices, awareness and tools to help them thrive in their new environment.
The "Thrive Together" project will address critical areas such as suicide prevention for people of all ages and domestic violence, by challenging the harmful norms that some families may have normalised in their home countries, fostering a deeper understanding of healthier practices in Canada.
This initiative also tackles the challenges of technology misuse, offering parents resources and support groups to understand its effects on brain development and to discover enriching, screen-free activities for their children.
In addition, this project will focus on women's health with a Menopause Cooking Circle, blending nutrition education with community support to promote hormone balance and physical wellness during this life stage. Complemented by an exercise component, this program strengthens both body and mind.
High River will accomplish these project outcomes through a series of workshops and podcasts.
