The Ponoka Expanding Spaces Project

This year Ponoka will be expanding on the success of their 2024 project Making Spaces by creating space and awareness for marginalized groups to increase social connection and acceptance. They will continue to empower and expand on their work by supporting women in their self-esteem development and mental wellness with a series of women's wellness initiatives such as drumming, meditation, dance, affirmations, yoga, and much more.

Ponoka will also enhance their contribution to community awareness and support of the LGBTQ2SAI+ community. The work they have done to date with the LGBTQ2SAI+ community has been important and they want to continue this work with more events to maintain and enhance the visibility and acceptance of this underserved group. This will be done through mental wellness art activities, film screenings, and community events.

They will also expand the work they have done with honouring the Indigenous community in Ponoka by increasing their collaboration with the First Nations Metis Inuit department of Wolf Creek Schools, and members to help bring a community wide message of wellness, acceptance, and awareness.
