Cold Lake's Creating a Culture of Caring Project aims to reduce stigma and raise awareness of mental health through a multi-pronged approach. The first piece hosts a community information session that will focus on mental health language, and how to reduce stigma within the community. In collaboration with local schools, they will implement mental health awareness sessions. These sessions will provide students with the knowledge and skills to navigate their own mental well-being and support their peers. By empowering youth to become advocates for positive mental health, they are sowing the seeds of a compassionate and empathic future.
Recognizing the importance of cultural diversity in their community, Cold Lake will launch a series of family events to bring together newcomers within the community. These programs aim to foster understanding and appreciation for the rich tapestry of backgrounds and experiences that newcomers bring to Cold Lake. Through these interactive events, they will create opportunities for meaningful connections and friendships to flourish.
Lastly, to celebrate the uniqueness of their community, Cold Lake will organize a Showcase of Culture. This vibrant and inclusive event will showcase the talents, traditions, and cuisines of their diverse population. By highlighting the beauty of their differences and promoting unity, they hope to strengthen the bonds between residents and create a sense of belonging for everyone.
Through these collective efforts, they are determined to transform Cold Lake into a community that prioritizes mental health, embraces diversity, and stands together in breaking the chains of stigma.
