This multi-community project will provide opportunity for Métis women and their families across northeastern Alberta, Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 2 to come together to visit, celebrate culture, support one another, and build community. Representing five communities, the Animators will organize several gatherings that will blend cultural pastimes with relationship building, creating culturally safe, nurturing spaces to learn with and from other Métis women. Some of the events planned include Beading and Rug making, Campfire Bannock, Mental Health First Aid for Seniors, and Traditional Medicine.

Impact/Outcome

The team of Animators from New Dawn forged allies with local non-profits in their region to fulfil their mandate of strengthen the voices of their women citizens. This group of powerful Metis women accomplished this by volunteering and contributing at a MMIWG event to hosting learnings at the Metis Crossing for all members of the community.
