Special Areas Rural Mental Health Network

This was the second year that Cessford was successful in receiving a community grant. A small hamlet like Cessford had very limited services, so community participation in mental health is instrumental in the community’s well-being. This is why one focus of their project is on building the capacity of community members through presentations, workshops, and events to better support each other in times of distress. Social connection and stigma reduction are addressed through the ongoing support of a Mental Health Street Guide that provides guidance on how to check in on someone’s well-being and provides resource options.

From our Animator

The Special Areas Rural Mental Health Network has been able to connect 20
individuals/organizations from our area to work together to bring awareness to Mental
Health and Wellness. Together we are trying to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness and create positive connections to professionals, resources and training.
