The goal of St. Albert’s Reach Out, Discover, Connect, and Grow project is to utilize City infrastructure like transit stations, community message boards, newspaper, website, community events, markets and festivals to promote the importance of maintaining mental health. The campaign creates empathy and empathetic connection by including the voices of community members with lived experience of mental health challenges. The breadth of the awareness campaign will ensure it is reaching all residents regardless of age, identity or socio-economic status.

In our conversations with community members, we’ve noted the realization that mental health challenges are becoming a norm for everyone to experience during their life’s journey; and the opportunity to talk about mental health is opening up doors for acceptance and reducing stigma. The vast experiences of the population are requiring many folks to seek assistance to aid their challenges, and people seem more willing to access resources and supports.
