Positive Purple Community Art & Games Picnic

Millet will continue to build upon the successful Positive Purple Picnic they held last year with the addition of an Art Contest. Youth from the local schools will have the opportunity to participate in the art contest and the winning submissions will be hung on a permanent board placed within Millet that will showcase the art. Winners will be announced at the annual Positive Purple Picnic.

The picnic will be held in September and will include outdoor games for families, such as outdoor Yahtzee and Jenga. Positive messages that community members can engage with will be attached to game pieces. The picnic will also include a Ted Talk style presentation on community and resilience. Additionally, the “Power of 8 Minutes” by Simon Sinek, which is the concept that it can take as little as 8 minutes to help someone not feel alone will be incorporated into the event by having “8 Minutes” printed on a variety of equipment for youth (soccer balls, football balls, etc.), with the intention that as youth use the equipment, they would have a reminder of the 8 Minutes concept and will share it with others.
