Impact/Outcome

The development of the community garden has helped to improve access to food security, promote healthy eating, and provide resources in the area for the garden to be functioning. The grant provided community members with starting kits to start gardening, resources to learn to preserve their food and long term impacts for adults, youth and children with the increased knowledge of how their food impacts mental wellbeing. By strengthening relationships within the community, more support is available for those when they are struggling. As a result of this project, there was an increase in food being donated to the local Food Bank and mental health drop in center, which allowed for more services and access to healthy food due to the generosity of the gardeners.
