This was the second year that Drumheller/Starland County was successful in receiving a community grant. Drumheller/Starland County is building on the momentum of their previous project – Street Guides that offer a mental health check-in tool, strategies to address stressors, and information on local resources – by increasing the confidence of community members to support one another in times of distress. They are offering formal training and community workshops on trauma-informed practices, crisis intervention, and emotional response to empower individuals to reach out and help others. Other efforts include being a consistent presence in the community and developing special events around mental health to foster belonging among all residents.
From our Animators
I have noticed there is an increased participation with members becoming actively involved in the activities within the work plan; this is encouraging to see happening. RMHN Committee members have volunteered to support planning an upcoming event.
