Chestermere is taking a multi-level approach to supporting wellness and mental health in their community.
They will host a series of multicultural events to celebrate the diverse populations within their community. The events will showcase unique elements of the cultures representative of those who live in Chestermere. Elements will include language, art, dance, cuisine, traditions, etc. These cultural events will be planned collaboratively with youth and adult leaders within the community and members of their action team. Also included in these events will be local service providers who will provide awareness of the mental health supports, programs, and services that are available in the community.
In addition to these events, The Chestermere and Area Mental Health Coalition will continue to implement the recommendations from the Youth Safer Communities Focus Group and presentations that took place in their previous grant terms. While doing this, they will focus on increasing awareness for mental health programs and services. They will also continue to work with government systems and school boards to review and implement the recommendations from the Youth Safer Communities report.
