This project’s objective is to empower male community members and provide a place that rejuvenates their spirit, provides a sense of purpose, and improves wellbeing overall. The Shed will be a safe, communal space for men of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to gather. Due to the location and distribution of the communities within the Specialized Municipality, community resources are quite spread out and not easily accessible to everyone.

Impact/Outcomes

The Men’s Shed project started off well in March 2021 with two men committed to facilitating and hosting meetings; due to unforeseen circumstances these two men were no longer committed to the project. We pivoted and created a Facebook page for the Men’s Shed that blossomed into an Odd Job Squad for men to experience community engagement and helping others. It challenges men to come together to do planning and are accountable to all members of the group that are counting on this opportunity to connect to others.
