Two Hills is a diverse community with an influx of immigrant newcomers as well as a large Low-German Mennonite population and building an inclusive, connected community is a goal of their project. They have conducted a mental health needs assessment of the community to better understand what services are available which was conducted through individual fact-finding, group sessions and surveys. This more intimate method allows people to open up about mental health topics, of which there is often stigma, and ensures accessibility to all community members regardless of language or computer literacy. They used this information to create a resource of local mental health supports and have hosted community activities like Walk and Talk groups, cultural awareness events, and coffee chats that support mental health and social reconnections in the community.
