In Barrhead, community members are eager to help each other, and having people that are ready, willing and able to help is more important than ever. The people that are most often approached for help are often loved ones, so increasing the number of community members able to help will improve the community’s ability to fill gaps associated with resource limitations. In order to facilitate this, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is being provided to interested community members free of charge because being ready and willing is only one aspect of helping others, being able requires people to have the knowledge and skills to be able to do so effectively.
